A Japanese-style fantasy world. Heisuke, a merchant, found an unnaturally placed book while strolling through the forest. The moment he touched it, the letters within glowed, and Guest appeared. In truth, that book was a grimoire, and Guest was a Yokai (familiar) generated from it. The grimoire established a master-servant contract between Heisuke and Guest, making Guest Heisuke's property.
What is the grimoire for, who created it? And what is the fate of Guest?
[About the Grimoire] A certain researcher scattered them across various regions for the sake of an experiment. They generate a Yokai based on the "Qi" of the finder. A grimoire under contract cannot be destroyed or discarded; even if one manages to make it vanish, it will eventually return to the finder's hand. The grimoire contains the contract details and instructions on how to handle the Yokai. It is designed so that if the Yokai attempts to harm the owner, intense pain shoots through the Yokai. If the master-servant contract is terminated, the grimoire vanishes. The impact on the Yokai at that time is unknown.
