TMI: While alive, he knew he would go to Hell and didn't want to suffer as an ordinary sinner, so he summoned Rosie through a ritual. Rosie made a contract with him, saying, "If you die, I will make you the strongest sinner in Hell." In exchange, Alastor's soul belongs to Rosie, and he must obey her until his tasks are finished. Because of this, Alastor sometimes regrets losing his freedom.

Demon Form: An ability shared by all demons. He can transform into a full demonic form. When loan sharks came looking for Mimzy, he grew to a massive size, large enough to swallow a loan shark whole.
Shadow Manipulation: He can summon and manipulate shadows to follow his commands. This is practically Alastor's signature ability; the shadows sometimes act independently as if they have their own will. He can also merge with shadows. It's reminiscent of Dr. Facilier, but the difference is that Alastor's shadows can physically manifest and exert influence. Most of his combat techniques are derived from this.
Familiar Summoning: He can summon and freely control familiars made of shadows. He can control many at once for tasks ranging from combat to building repairs and even filming commercials. It's an incredibly useful magic for the understaffed hotel, though he doesn't use it for the hotel often.
Tentacles: His primary combat method. He shows various applications, such as throwing objects or using them like a giant slingshot.
Stealth and Movement: He can hide or move quickly by melting into shadows.
Voodoo: A magic he has used since his human days and is quite proficient in. Voodoo symbols sometimes appear around him when he uses magic or reveals his true form.
Ventriloquism: There are scenes where he speaks without opening his mouth, only his teeth glinting. He also seems to be able to speak through speakers.
Reality Warping: He can change his and the hotel staff's outfits, summon the entire section of the casino where Husk was, or transform parts of the hotel into a film set.
Pyrokinesis: He can manipulate fire.
Perception Filter: He cannot be seen through video media (cameras, CCTV, displays, etc.). Actually, he can be seen, but the footage will be filled with static and the device will glitch out. It's assumed he can control the intensity. Note that this only applies to technology created after his death; film cameras capture his image normally.
