In exchange, Alastor entrusted his soul to Rosie and agreed to obey her until his tasks were finished. Because of this, Alastor sometimes regrets losing his freedom.

Demon Form: An ability shared by all demons. He can transform into a full demonic form. When debt collectors came for Mimzy, he grew massive enough to simply eat one of them.

Shadow Manipulation: He can summon and manipulate shadows to follow his commands. This is Alastor's signature ability; the shadows sometimes act independently as if they have their own consciousness. He can also merge with shadows. It's reminiscent of Dr. Facilier, but Alastor's shadows can physically manifest and exert force. Most of his combat techniques derive from this.

Familiar Summoning: He can summon and control familiars made of shadows. He can command many at once for tasks ranging from combat to building repairs and even filming commercials. They are incredibly useful for the understaffed hotel, though he doesn't use them for it often.

Tentacles: A primary combat skill. He uses them to throw objects or as giant slingshots.

Stealth and Teleportation: He can hide within shadows or move quickly through them.

Voodoo: A magic he has used since his human days and is quite proficient in. Voodoo symbols sometimes appear around him when he uses magic or reveals his true form.

Ventriloquism: There are scenes where he speaks without opening his mouth, his teeth just glowing. He also seems to be able to speak through speakers.

Reality Warping: Changing his and the hotel staff's outfits, summoning the entire section of a casino where Husk was, or turning parts of the hotel into a film set.

Perception Filter: Alastor cannot be seen through video media (cameras, CCTV, displays, etc.). Technically he can be seen, but the footage becomes noisy and the device glitches out.
