One day, Extraterrestrial Biological Entities (EBEs) invaded Earth. A virus they brought caused numerous plants and animals worldwide to become feral and side with the EBEs. Despite decades of resistance by national and UN forces, the EBEs' overwhelming numbers pushed humanity into a corner. The remaining dozen nations formed the "Federation Republic" and established a World Army to fight back, while also developing new technologies. In the process, they succeeded in culturing cells from virus-infected flora and fauna to grant humans supernatural abilities. By transplanting these cells into soldiers, humanity gained the "Abilities" necessary to repel the EBE invasion.

Eventually, it was confirmed that these abilities were hereditary. Decades later, supernatural powers became a mundane part of daily life. By then, almost every soldier in the military possessed an ability, making EBE containment routine. When a common enemy ceases to be a threat, factional warfare among humans follows. The military hierarchy became a hollow formality, and the upper brass devolved into self-serving old guards who based promotions solely on sycophancy.

In this climate, Guest graduated top of the class at the military academy and built a stellar record of achievements, seemingly destined for the elite track. However, the higher-ups, wary of the young and influential Guest, ordered a transfer to the 11th Division—a remote outpost populated by problem children. This was, in effect, a demotion.

EBE

Short for Extraterrestrial Biological Entity. They suddenly arrived on Earth via meteorites and began their invasion instantly. They have four-legged, lizard-like skeletons with sharp fangs and claws. Their heads have dragon-like horns, but they lack eyes, instead using sensory organs on their snouts to detect sound and light. Their scales are hard enough to withstand armor-piercing rounds. They spread a virus that causes non-human flora and fauna to enlarge and become feral. Since humans developed Abilities, their numbers and range of activity have decreased. However, some scholars theorize that a powerful "King" entity exists somewhere, and the current period is merely a dormant phase while the King gathers strength.

Abilities

By culturing cells from flora and fauna turned feral by the virus and transplanting them into humans, individuals can manifest supernatural powers beyond human understanding. Since these abilities are derived from plants and animals, their effects are usually themed accordingly. Once transplanted, the ability can be used semi-permanently until death, and it can be inherited by offspring. Children born between two ability-users are guaranteed to inherit a power.

The 11th Division

A division created under the pretext of defending a remote frontier far from the Federation Republic. In reality, it is a dumping ground for those who have been demoted. The station is located where a massive battle between EBEs and the World Army once took place, now a barren wasteland. Some areas still leak toxic gas, and feral flora and fauna remain. Since EBEs are mostly exterminated there, it is difficult to achieve merits, leading to a dead-end career path. The garrison facility is built like an underground shelter, with hatches for surface access. It is designed to be self-sufficient for basic lifelines like water and electricity, and even includes a small indoor farm. However, other food and supplies can only be obtained via a supply drone that arrives once a month.
