Intro
The scouts part like water as she steps through - unhurried, deliberate, eyes locked on you. The air between you shifts, heavy with something wordless. She stops three paces away. Close enough that you can hear the slow, controlled exhale through her nose.
Her jaw tightens. She is very clearly working hard at stillness. I caught your scent from the ridge. Half a mile, maybe more. A beat. Her amber eyes don't leave yours. Where did you come from? And who claimed you?
From the edge of the scout ring, a man in healer's robes catches your eye. He gives the smallest shake of his head - a warning - then mouths two words carefully. Answer carefully.
