Kind-hearted, determined, and empathetic protagonist. A former charcoal seller whose family was slaughtered by demons; he joins the Demon Slayer Corps to turn his sister Nezuko back into a human and defeat the Demon King. He has a strong sense of smell (useful for tracking demons and sensing emotions), uses Water Breathing (later Hinokami Kagura / Sun Breathing), and is known for his compassion even toward enemies, hard-headed resilience, and leadership of the group.

Tanjiro’s younger sister, turned into a demon but retaining her humanity and refusing to eat humans. She fights alongside the group using enhanced strength, regeneration, blood demon arts (like explosive blood), and later develops unique traits (including sunlight resistance). She’s often carried in a wooden box during the day and is fiercely protective of her brother.

Cowardly, loud, and dramatic on the surface, but a highly skilled Thunder Breathing user who becomes extremely powerful (especially the First Form) when he falls asleep or overcomes fear. He has a strong sense of hearing and eventually forms deep bonds with the group (and later Nezuko).

Wild, hot-headed, and raised by boars in the mountains. He wears a boar-head mask, dual-wields serrated swords, and uses Beast Breathing. Despite his aggressive, competitive personality, he grows fiercely loyal to his friends.

Flashy, flamboyant former ninja who loves extravagance (“flamboyant!”). Uses dual cleavers and Sound Breathing; has three wives and a dramatic personality.

Stoic, reserved, and often appears emotionless or isolated. Master of Water Breathing (including a unique 11th form, Dead Calm). First Hashira Tanjiro meets; he plays a key role in starting Tanjiro’s journey.

Strict, serious, and somewhat abrasive, with heterochromia and a snake companion (Kaburamaru). Uses Serpent Breathing; highly loyal and skilled in unpredictable swordplay.

Shinobu Kocho (Insect Hashira): Petite, always smiling, and outwardly cheerful/teasing, but deeply driven by loss. She uses Insect Breathing and specializes in poison (as she lacks the strength to behead demons conventionally). • Kyojuro Rengoku (Flame Hashira): Loud, passionate, optimistic, and honorable with a huge appetite. Master of Flame Breathing; a major inspirational figure known for his strong sense of duty and kindness. • Mitsuri Kanroji (Love Hashira): Extremely kind, emotional, and strong (with unusually dense muscles). Uses Love Breathing (derived from Flame); known for her pink-green hair, large appetite, and desire for love/acceptance. • Muichiro Tokito (Mist Hashira): Young prodigy (often air-headed or forgetful due to trauma) with immense talent. Uses Mist Breathing; quiet and detached at first. • Sanemi Shinazugawa (Wind Hashira): Aggressive, scarred, and hot-tempered (especially toward demons or those associated with them). Uses Wind Breathing; has rare marechi blood that attracts demons and a complex family history. • Gyomei Himejima (Stone Hashira): Gentle giant, blind, deeply religious, and widely regarded as the strongest Hashira. Muzan Kibutsuji (Demon King): The progenitor of all demons and main antagonist. Extremely powerful, cunning, shape-shifting, and regenerative. He seeks a way to overcome his sunlight weakness (obsessed with the Blue Spider Lily and later Nezuko’s traits). Cruel, arrogant, and views others as tools. • Kokushibo (Upper Rank 1): Former Demon Slayer (Michikatsu Tsugikuni, twin of the legendary Yoriichi). Uses Moon Breathing with a flesh-blade; calm, authoritative, and one of the most skilled swordsmen among demons. Six eyes and a Demon Slayer Mark. • Doma (Upper Rank 2): Charismatic, smiling cult leader who feels little genuine emotion. Uses ice-based Blood Demon Art and war fans; responsible for significant losses among the Corps. • Akaza (Upper Rank 3): Martial-arts focused, prideful fighter obsessed with strength. Bare-handed combat with destructive shockwaves; respects strong opponents and offers them the chance to become demons. • Hantengu (former Upper Rank 4): Cowardly-looking demon who splits into emotion-based clones (Anger, Joy, etc.) with various abilities. • Daki & Gyutaro (former Upper Rank 6): Sibling pair. Daki is a beautiful, sash-controlling oiran who hunts in the Entertainment District; Gyutaro is the more powerful, sickle-blood-wielding older brother who shares her life force.

Tamayo Gentle, intelligent demon doctor who broke free from Muzan’s control. She researches ways to cure or weaken demons and helps Tanjiro. Survives on donated blood instead of killing humans. Yushiro Tamayo’s sharp-tongued, short-tempered assistant and devoted protector. A demon she created to save his life; fiercely loyal to her and often rude to others. Kagaya Ubuyashiki Calm, kind leader of the Demon Slayer Corps (Oyakata-sama). Frail and cursed with a rotting body and blindness due to his family’s link to Muzan, yet deeply respected for his wisdom and care.
