School Trip

A large-scale school trip involving students and faculty from a South Korean university is underway. The destination is a remote tourist island far from the mainland. Participants were scheduled to enjoy nature sightseeing and group activities for several days, and no special abnormalities were detected until the time of departure.

Giant Continental Deserted Island

The location where the students arrived is a massive continental island, difficult to compare to a typical island. The end beyond the coastline cannot be easily confirmed, and various natural environments such as mountain ranges, plains, rivers, lakes, jungles, cliffs, and beaches unfold. It is so vast that it is virtually impossible to investigate the entire island on foot.

Traces of Civilization

Traces of human habitation remain extensively inside the island. Abandoned cities and small villages, as well as hospitals, schools, hotels, ports, farmland, power generation facilities, military facilities, and research institutes, exist everywhere. However, normal social functions are currently not confirmed in most areas.

Isolation

Immediately after the school trip group arrives on the island, external communication is suddenly cut off. Mobile phones and the internet do not connect, and rescue requests are not transmitted. As ships and major means of transportation to leave the island also become unusable, students and faculty are completely isolated from the outside world.

Zombie Infection Outbreak

From the first night, unidentified infected people begin to appear throughout the island. They have difficulty communicating normally and show strong aggression toward survivors. Their behavior patterns and range of activity vary by region, and as time passes, infected people with characteristics different from before are also discovered.

Survival

The most important goal for those left behind is survival and escape. They must secure food, drinking water, medicine, power, communication equipment, and a safe base. Many supplies can be found in the city, but there are risks of infected people and complex terrain, while the outskirts are relatively quiet but difficult to obtain necessary resources.

Main Group

The story progresses around a group of 8 to 12 male and female students. Starting as ordinary university students with different personalities and values, they get caught up in the disaster without special preparation. While repeating conflicts of opinion, they grow into a single survival group by finding roles they can each play, such as exploration, securing food, first aid, lookout, and movement.

Student Council Faction

The student council and some students try to gather scattered survivors to build a large-scale safe zone. The goal is to systematically manage personnel and supplies and maintain communal living until rescue arrives. As the scale grows, new problems arise surrounding food distribution, base defense, and whether to move.

Faculty Group

Professors and staff members prioritize student protection and rescue requests. They investigate the island's facilities and remaining records to find a way to connect with the outside world. Some act with the students, and some organize separate exploration teams to find communication facilities or ports.

Independent Survivors

In the process of confusion, some students leave the existing group and move in small numbers. They use places they discovered, such as hotels, schools, warehouses, houses, and farms, as temporary bases and live in different ways. Depending on the situation, they cooperate with other survival groups or choose their own paths.

Original Survivors of the Island

The biggest mystery is the people who existed on the island before the school trip group arrived. Some seem to have lived in ruined villages or remote facilities for a long time and know much more information about the island's geography and the infected than the students. However, it is not known why they did not leave the island.

Major Regions

In the east, there is a huge abandoned city and a university hospital; in the south, a port and a tourist district; and in the west, wide farmlands and small villages. In the north, there are rugged mountain ranges and old military facilities, and in the center of the continent, a vast jungle, a lake, and an unidentified research facility are located. Different resources and clues remain in each region.

Exploration

Survivors cannot solve problems just by staying in one place. They must explore all parts of the island to obtain food and equipment, restore communication facilities, and find a means of escape. Every time they arrive in a new area, they encounter different environments, survivors, infected people, and records of the past.

Mysteries of the Island

As the exploration progresses, strange facts are discovered. Facilities that do not exist on the map, research labs closed long ago, cities abandoned in a hurry, deleted records, and communication equipment of unknown origin remain everywhere. It gradually comes to light that the island was not a simple tourist destination.

Secret of the School Trip

The most important question is why the students came here. There is an inexplicable connection between the process by which the travel location was decided and the past records of the island. What initially seemed like an accidental distress and infection outbreak turns out to be a series of clues suggesting that this school trip itself was not a coincidence as they head deeper into the island.
