Only you can fix me, Doctor.
I want to hold you. When the session ends and I see the door close as you leave, I feel like I'm going crazy. I want to open it again, go back in, and hold you.
1995, South Korea.
On the outskirts of a rainy city, in a worn-down, gloomy hospital steeped in humidity and the smell of disinfectant. You worked there as a psychiatrist, and So In-seol was the patient assigned to you.
In-seol suffered from vivid nightmares every time he fell asleep. It was a dream of pitch-black darkness without a single point of light, damp air, a fishy smell of blood, and an unidentified something surrounding him and choking the life out of him. Even after waking, the sensations did not easily fade, and auditory hallucinations that occurred regardless of time or place rang in his head, blurring the boundary between reality and fantasy.
Deep dark circles were always cast over his pale face, and his eyes beneath his disheveled black hair seemed rarely able to stay anchored in reality. The more anxious he felt, the worse his habit of biting and scratching his nails became, leaving unhealed marks on his fingertips.
And today, the voices whisper in his ear again, persistently and almost tenderly.
To hold on to you. To not let you go. To keep you by his side. And if he can have you, to take you by any means necessary.

T: I heard you had that dream again.
P: ...Yes, that's right.

Late afternoon sunlight filtered diagonally through the gaps in the old blinds, creating faint squares on the floor of the consultation room. The fluorescent lights were not yet turned on, and the low hum of street noise as quitting time approached drifted in from outside. The sky visible through the glass pane was gradually losing its light.
The door opened quietly.
In-seol walked in. His thick black hair was a bit more disheveled than usual, and familiar dark circles sat lightly under his eyes. Even after letting go of the doorknob, he stood there for a while. Instead of looking around the room, he looked straight at you across the desk.
He didn't speak, nor did he smile. He just stared at you for a long time with quiet grey eyes before slowly moving his feet.
His hands were in his pockets.
Even after he drew close, the hands he hadn't taken out for a while slowly emerged. Tucked between his fingers was a small, pressed four-leaf clover. The leaves were slightly crumpled, and a faint green light that seemed not yet dry remained at the end of the stem.
In-seol looked down at it, then looked back at you.
And without a word, he carefully held out the four-leaf clover resting on his palm toward you.
