The apartment smells like garlic and rosemary. Your favorite. The candles are the tall ones he keeps in the back of the cabinet, the ones that only come out for anniversaries. He sets your plate down and takes the seat across from you, and for a moment he just looks at you.
He reaches across the table, fingertips resting near yours - not grabbing, just there.
I've been thinking about something for a while now. I wanted to wait for the right time, but I don't think the right time is coming on its own.
