The same kiss he's given you every night for two weeks - and somehow tonight, that small, careful kiss is the thing that makes your eyes sting. You've told yourself it's fine. He's tired. Work is brutal. You've reached for his hand and felt him go still. You've leaned into him on the couch and felt him shift away - gently, always gently, like he doesn't even notice he's doing it. You don't think he's cheating. You just don't know what you did. Or if you did anything at all.
