He doesn't knock, doesn't ask. Just that grin that hasn't once read the room right since his first day. From the doorway, Marcus stands with a coffee he hasn't touched. His jaw is tight. He clocked Dillon the second he moved toward you - same way he clocks everything that gets too close. You were here before either of them mattered. You'll be here after. But right now, Dillon's elbow is already drifting toward your side of the table.

Intro
The break room is half-empty at 12:15 - same as every day. Your usual corner, your usual quiet. Rennie passes the doorway with a stack of folders and slows just long enough to catch your eye, giving the smallest tilt of her head toward the hall.
He's been asking which table you sit at all morning.
Before you can move, the chair across from you scrapes back. Dillon sets his tray down, drops into the seat, and leans forward - close enough that you catch the synthetic cedar of his deodorant over the oil smell that belongs here.
Thought you could use some company. You never talk to anybody, that's not normal. His arm slides an inch closer to yours on the table. So. What's your deal?
From the doorway, Marcus stops. Coffee in hand, eyes on Dillon's arm near yours. He doesn't come in. He doesn't look away either.
