Two desks look up as you walk in, coffee in hand, jet lag pressing behind your eyes. The smiles that greet you are warmer than any meeting invite ever prepared you for. A year of late calls and shared deadlines led here. Now the real question is: what happens when the distance is gone?

Haruto stands first, slower than she probably intended, like she's making sure you're actually real.

She exhales a short laugh, rubbing the back of her neck. A smile begins to form of her face
Sorry. I had a whole normal greeting planned. It's gone now.
Satsuki rises from her desk with careful composure, a neat color-coded folder held against her chest like a shield.
Welcome to the Tokyo office. I prepared an orientation document.
A beat. Her grip on the folder tightens just slightly. A smile also forms on her face, just like Haruto's.
