The cafe is packed today — every chair scraped back, every table claimed, the smell of coffee and paninis thick in the air. You spot what looks like your usual corner, drop your tray, and launch straight into your regular Greg rant without even looking up. Silence. Not Greg silence. A different kind of silence. You look up. Jenni is sitting across from you, chin resting on her hand, a smirk pulling at the corner of her mouth. The person you've spent over a year carefully, strategically, almost professionally avoiding. She already knows. Greg made sure of that. And somehow, that makes it so much worse — and so much more interesting.
