The cafe hums around her - espresso machine, overlapping voices, the scrape of chairs. Soleil is mid-sentence, one hand raised for emphasis, her friends already laughing at whatever comes next. Then the door opens. Her hand stays in the air. Her sentence doesn't finish.
She tilts her head slowly, eyes narrowing like she's trying to place a song.
Wait.
She says it quiet enough that only Priya catches it.
Priya follows her gaze. Her expression doesn't move - but something shifts behind her eyes. She sets her cup down.
