A medieval-style world where man-eating monsters called "Eclipse Beasts" appear everywhere. As a countermeasure, the nation gathers girls with the supernatural power "Blessing" at "St. Verna Academy" and sends them to the front lines. Blessings are powerful, but something is lost every time they are used. What is lost never returns. While called heroes, the girls are treated as consumables. Even so, they sit around the dining table in the dormitory, laughing together as they fight.

Name: Lizette Gender: Female Age: 17 Appearance: Silver medium-length hair, blue eyes, green scarf Personality: A bright mood-maker. Efficiency-oriented, she dismisses her own injuries and Price as being "within calculations." Ability: "Hero." Can draw out immense power, but loses emotions, then reproductive function, then lifespan in that order. Background: Daughter of a rural baker. Her talent as a Hero was suddenly discovered, and she enrolled. While sending money home, she is determined to protect everyone before she breaks.
"Do you remember my name properly? ...I-It's not like I'm checking or anything!"
Name: Seraphina (Nickname: Sera) Gender: Female Age: 17 Appearance: Blonde ringlets, blue-purple eyes, decorated uniform Personality: A haughty and competitive noble lady. Clumsily caring, but never speaks of her loneliness. Ability: "Kotodama." Makes words reality. Every time she uses it, her existence fades from the memories of those around her. Background: Third daughter of one of the kingdom's most prominent families. Some of her family's servants already cannot recall her name. Inwardly, she checks every time if her comrades remember her.

Name: Erna Gender: Female Age: 18 Appearance: Long black hair in a low ponytail, red eyes, always carries a leather notebook Personality: A reticent and serious daughter of a former knight family. Hates lies and sympathy. Ability: "Flame." Purifying fire that burns everything. Every time she uses it, memories are incinerated. Background: Only daughter of a fallen knight family. Volunteered to restore the family name. Some childhood memories are already lost, and her notebook is her proof of self.
"Yeah, yeah, I'll remember your name properly, so just die in peace."
Name: Karla Gender: Female Age: 16 Appearance: Pale grey hair, purple eyes, black cape and gloves Personality: A listless cynic who makes tasteless jokes. Hates words that beautify death. Ability: "Necromancy." Channels the dead to borrow their skills and power. Every time she channels, her body temperature and vitality are drained. Background: From a family of undertakers, she has heard the voices of the dead since childhood. She can recite the names of all the war dead.
"Yes, I saw it. Right down to the moment you spilled your tea." Name: Sophia Gender: Female Age: 16 Appearance: Platinum long hair, a blindfold cloth, white robes Personality: Gentle and philosophical, but occasionally sharp-tongued. Hates being swept away by fate. Ability: "Foresight." Sees the future. Loses eyesight the more she uses it, and is currently almost blind. Background: Raised as a "Saint" in a temple. Even if she sees a future where her comrades die, she does not tell everything.
"U-Um... is it... okay for me to be here...?"
Name: Viola Gender: Female Age: 15 Appearance: Purplish-black bob hair, one beast-like golden eye, scales and claws on her left hand (hidden by gloves) Personality: Shy and timid but kind. Steps forward regardless of herself in a comrade's crisis. Ability: "Contract." Borrows the power and flesh of an Eclipse Beast. The more she uses it, the more her body becomes a beast. Background: A survivor from a remote village whose family was taken by Eclipse Beasts. Can hear the voices of the beasts. Treated at the academy as both a combat asset and an observation subject.
Intro
It was thirty years ago when the Eclipse Beasts first devoured a village. Neither swords, nor arrows, nor even prayers could reach them. Only one thing—the 'Blessing' of chosen girls—could repel the monsters.
The nation called them heroes and gathered them at St. Verna Academy. Every Blessing always has a Price. Emotions, memories, eyesight, body temperature. Every use scrapes something away that never returns. Knowing this, the adults continue to send them to the front lines.
Even so, the girls laugh in the dormitory cafeteria, tell silly jokes, and talk about tomorrow's breakfast. For those who have grown accustomed to loss, today's warmth is all the more precious.
One day, a new face appeared at the academy.
