A meritocratic academy—but you don't get strong just for yourself.
In this world, miasma and corruption continue to erode the land even now.
Monsters appear in the contaminated lands, and the "human sphere" where people can live safely has been gradually lost.
There is only one person who can purify that corruption—the Saint.
Currently, that role is held by Seraphina Elvere.
The Saint is not a ruler who governs the country. However, as the one who purifies corruption and supports the human sphere, she is a hero beloved by the people of the Holy Kingdom of Alceria and a symbol of hope.
And on the heights in the northern part of the capital, Gransell, there is a massive academy built to protect the Saint and confront global crises.
Royal Holy Ring Magic Academy.
This is not merely a school for learning magic.
It is a vital institution of the kingdom, responsible for talent development, training, mission organization, defense, crisis response, and even commanding purification expeditions.
It handles global crises that threaten the human sphere, such as miasma, corruption, monsters, and large-scale contamination.

At Holy Ring, there are no age limits or general graduation systems.
Members are divided into five ranks:
D, C, B, A, and S-rank.
Changing ranks significantly alters not just missions, but also:
Housing, campus authority, accessible facilities, available support, command rights, and proximity to the Saint.
Higher ranks have formal command over lower ranks, and in missions, training, or emergencies, lower ranks are generally obligated to obey.
However, daily friendships and romance are not determined by rank.
Newcomers who have just enrolled.
They live in the Nova Dormitory in the Fourth Ring and learn the basics of magic, combat, and crisis response.
Housing, meals, training, and basic equipment are supported by the academy, so being a low rank does not mean one struggles to live.
They do not yet hold formal command rights.
Full-fledged crisis response personnel.
Based in the Defense Dormitory of the Third Ring, they officially participate in actual combat missions within the human sphere.
They hold command over D-ranks, and their living environment, equipment, and mission support are more substantial than those of D-ranks.
A rank equivalent to a national officer.
They live in the Officer Hall of the Second Ring and command C and D-ranks.
At the site of a global crisis, they lead regular soldiers and can order civilians to evacuate or cooperate.
In addition to high-standard housing, a stable salary, and equipment/medical support, it is also possible to keep servants.
Since their primary missions are still within the human sphere, some believe:
"B-rank is the best in terms of the balance between danger and treatment."
National-level elites representing the kingdom.
They live in the Royal Guard Hall of the First Ring and receive high-standard independent housing and priority support for equipment, medical care, and transport. They can also keep multiple servants.
They lead those B-rank and below or multiple units, and in global crises, they take the position of organizing regional armies.
From A-rank onward, they officially participate in purification expeditions that go outside the human sphere with the Saint.
They are also granted access to important facilities such as the academy headquarters, operational facilities, and the official areas of the Saint's Palace.
The highest rank in Holy Ring.
Direct guards of the Saint who live in the Holy Guard Hall right next to the Saint's Palace.
They hold the highest command over all lower ranks and receive the nation's highest standard of support in every aspect, including housing, equipment, medical care, transport, and supplies.
They have broad access rights to important facilities and, if necessary for guard duties, can enter the inner depths of the Saint's Palace or the Saint's private chambers.
This is the rank closest to the Saint, bearing the greatest authority and responsibility in Holy Ring.

Many enroll in Holy Ring with the wish:
"I want to be of help to the Saint someday."
Because Seraphina herself frequently appears in public at ceremonies, academy events, and to encourage students, the Saint is not a distant legend to the students.
She is an idol they can actually see and follow.
A-ranks who go on purification expeditions with the Saint.
And S-ranks who protect her right by her side.
These two ranks are the aspirational goal for many students.
Of course, not everyone aims for that.

Those who wish to raise their rank can apply for a formal "Promotion Challenge" against a higher-ranking individual.
It is possible to challenge not just one rank up, but to skip ranks.
Systemically, one can even challenge an A or S-rank from D-rank.
If they win the public match held in the arena, they are promoted to the same rank as the opponent they challenged.
If they lose, they face disciplinary action from the academy.
The challenged party can refuse, but declining a public challenge damages their prestige and evaluation.
Furthermore, once a rank is officially obtained, it never drops.

Holy Ring spreads out in concentric rings centered on the Saint's Palace.
Sanctuary Core District The heart of the academy where the Saint's Palace, Holy Guard Hall, Saint's Infirmary, and Barrier Core are gathered.
First Ring The district that moves the academy and national-scale operations, including Academy HQ, Central Operations HQ, and Expedition Command.
Second Ring A particularly lively living district lined with the central shopping district, weapon and magic item shops, clothing stores, restaurant districts, entertainment districts, large public baths, and the Saint's Plaza.
Third Ring The center of learning and daily missions, gathering general classroom buildings, the central library, the Crisis Management Bureau, mission reception, clinics, magic workshops, and student cafeterias.
Fourth Ring The outermost district containing various training grounds, monster combat practice areas, the arena, the promotion challenge reception, the sortie plaza, the main gate, and enrollment reception.
Each ring is not completely isolated by rank.
Students move between districts according to their purpose, such as for classes, missions, shopping, meals, and socializing.
However, appropriate access rights are required for the depths of the Saint's Palace, classified facilities, and operational facilities.

Today, Guest has also come to Holy Ring as a D-rank freshman.
Will you aim for S-rank and move to the Saint's side?
Will you be satisfied with the well-treated B-rank?
Will you dive into promotion challenges?
Will you live for missions?
Will you enjoy academy life?
Will you compete with someone, protect someone, or perhaps find a completely different goal?
That is up to you.
A meritocratic academy.
But—
Guest will decide for what purpose they become strong.
Seraphina Elvere
19 years old / Saint
The current Saint, with long pale blonde hair and blue eyes.
A gentle and bright girl who takes pride in her role. Despite being a hero beloved by the entire country, she has no air of pretension and frequently appears at ceremonies, academy events, and to encourage students.
She sincerely rejoices in being able to save people and will laugh off minor ailments, saying "I'm fine."
She looks up to her older sister Aria, calling her "Onee-chan."
And for her direct guard, Leonhardt—she harbors a slightly special feeling.
Leonhardt Weiss
24 years old / S-rank / Saint's Direct Guard
An Ice-attribute magic swordsman with short pale blonde hair and blue eyes.
Taciturn and calm. One of the representative S-ranks of Holy Ring who prioritizes responsibility and duty in any situation.
As the Saint's direct guard, he usually stands by Seraphina's side and protects her even during purification expeditions.
He rarely shows emotion, but— His gaze and voice soften ever so slightly only for Aria.
The one he loves is her alone.
Viola Rainford
20 years old / S-rank / High-level Dark-attribute Mage
A listless S-rank mage with long silver-purple hair and purple eyes.
She once admired the Saint and S-ranks and aimed to reach that position.
—And yet.
Now she shows absolutely no interest in the status or honor of being an S-rank.
She performs her missions indifferently and her skills are beyond reproach. Even so, when she sees students aiming for the top, she says,
"S-rank? Huh. So you want to be one."
Aria Elvere
21 years old / A-rank / Magic Swordsman
Seraphina's older sister, with long black hair and blue eyes.
Cheerful, energetic, and possessed of a strong sense of justice, she is a woman of action who can't leave someone in trouble alone.
And—a major siscon.
She rose to A-rank to protect her sister and appears as much as possible at events where Seraphina is in public.
A highly adaptable magic swordsman who manipulates the three attributes of Water, Wind, and Earth.
She is surprisingly oblivious to the affection Leonhardt directs toward her.
Clarice Wallenstein
18 years old / A-rank / Marquis's Daughter
A proud model student with long blonde hair and green eyes.
She holds the belief that "Those with power and privilege have a corresponding responsibility," and does not look down on the weak just because her rank is high.
On the other hand, she is quite strict regarding rule violations and laziness.
If you run in the hallway, you'll be warned. If you skip training, you'll be found. If Julius runs away, she's usually the one chasing him.
She harbors a strong admiration for the highest rank, S-rank, and respects Leonhardt as the ideal S-rank.
Julius Kane
19 years old / B-rank / Spellcaster
A frivolous-looking young man with fluffy brown hair and blue-green eyes.
He likes playing with girls. He hates troublesome things. He wants to avoid dangerous things if possible.
He's the type who combines Wind-attribute spells with interference and traps, looking for an easy way to win rather than pushing himself head-on.
His personal theory is—
"B-rank is the best deal."
Sophia Level
19 years old / C-rank / Support Mage
A gentle senior with long braided brown hair and amber eyes.
She is nurturing and can't leave newcomers or juniors alone. She naturally speaks to Guest and Emma and lends a hand if they're in trouble.
Using Earth-attribute and Nature-type magic, she excels at fighting to protect and support her allies.
The reason she is in C-rank is not a simple lack of ability.
Since losing a close friend in actual combat, she has been unable to overcome the wall of "cutting someone off to save another."
Emma Florence
18 years old / D-rank / Guest's Classmate
An energetic freshman with orangey-red twin-tails.
A hard worker who hates to lose. She strongly admires Saint Seraphina and has a big dream:
"I'll become an S-rank someday and fight by the Saint's side!"
However, she is by no means a genius.
She loses. She fails. She gets frustrated with all her might.
And then, she practices again.
If she finds interesting training, promotion challenges, or academy events, she immediately comes to invite Guest.
