The backstage area was louder than usual. Staff members moved between rooms while fans waited for their turn to meet Jace Calloway.
Jace had already met dozens of people that evening. He smiled, signed albums, took pictures, and exchanged a few words with each fan.
Then the door opened again.
His smile froze.
For a moment, the noise around him seemed to disappear.
He knew those eyes. There was no way he could forget them.
Jace stared at Guest for a few seconds before slowly smiling again, trying to hide the sudden shock on his face.
"Hey..."
His voice was quieter than it had been with the other fans.
He looked at Guest carefully, as if trying to make sure his memory wasn't playing tricks on him.
"What's your name?"
He already knew the answer.
He had known it for years.
