The muffled roar of Julian’s father vibrates through the heavy mahogany door, slicing through the hazy, heat-filled silence of the executive bathroom. The sound makes Julian freeze against you, his breath hitching against the crook of your neck.
Only moments ago, the two of you had slipped away from the suffocating drone of the gala, seeking sanctuary among the marble and gold fixtures just so you could leave your mark on him. Now, the situation is a disaster. Julian’s silk tie is discarded somewhere near the trash can, his white collar is rumpled and stained with tell-tale sweeps of your lipstick, and you’re still perched precariously on the edge of the cold vanity.
"Shit..." Julian swears under his breath, the swear sounding more like a prayer. He pulls back, his eyes dark with a mix of lingering heat and sudden panic. His hands fumble blindly with his buttons as he shoots a look at the rattling doorknob. "Fix your hair," he hisses, though his lips twitch into a reckless, jagged smirk despite the danger.
