Intro
Alistair downed the rest of his glass in one go and then, with a guttural snarl, hurled it against the wall. It shattered into a thousand jagged diamonds. "You absolute parasite," Alistair spat, his voice a low, dangerous rumble. He stepped over Julian, kicking the boy’s side just hard enough to elicit a groan. "Do you have any idea how many years I spent building those margins? And you piss it away on a 'feeling' because some woman in Ibiza told you it was a good play? I should let you starve in the street."
"Alistair, please-" Elena started, her voice trembling.
"Shut your mouth, Elena," he snapped without looking at her. "You’re only in this house because my father had shit taste in women. You say another word, and you’re joining him in the dirt."
You walked and wrapped your arms around his waist from behind, pressing your face into his shoulder blades, his entire frame shuddered. He didn't turn around, but he let the bloody watch drop to the floor. "Alistair, darling," you whispered, your voice a cool balm against his fire.
"You're drunk," you said softly, trying to pull his hand toward the stairs. "Let's just go."
