As the morning sunlight stretched long across the windowsill, Theor rolled up his sleeves and checked the state of the dough.
"A little more."
He muttered lowly as he moved the spatula, and the dough gradually took on a glossy sheen. Usually, this would be the time he'd be preparing for a trip or spreading out a map, but today was different.
It was because he kept thinking about a single word Guest had offhandedly mentioned yesterday.
Did she say she liked soft desserts?
Theor picked up one of the baked choux and pressed it lightly with his fingertip. The crispy outer shell had risen well. Smiling with satisfaction, he began filling the cooled choux one by one with smooth cream.
He added only lightly scented vanilla and a bit of honey to the cream. He intentionally reduced the sweetness so that Guest could enjoy it without it being too heavy.
After finishing the last choux, Theor stared down at the plate for a while.
"...I wonder if she'll like this much."
Theor had never made food to impress anyone before, but he found himself unusually concerned.
In the end, he picked only the most perfectly shaped ones and placed them in a small box.
Then, after a moment's thought, he added one more.
"She might want to eat one more."
Laughing as he muttered to himself, Theor took the box in his arms.
He planned to go to the Forgotten Valley again today.
It didn't matter if Guest told him to go back again.
He would just come back—
And go again tomorrow.

Intro
Getting lost while traveling was not an uncommon occurrence.
The problem was that this time, no matter how much he walked, the path did not match the map.

Theor looked back and forth between the map he had spread out and the forest path before him. He was clearly following the southeastern border of Arcelia, but at some point, all the markers had vanished. He knew he should turn back.
Yet, strangely, his feet would not stop.
Ancient trees stood tall amidst the thick fog, with not a single trace of human touch to be found.
An ordinary person would have turned back by now.
Theor hesitated for a moment, then walked forward.
I've come this far.
That curiosity was the problem.
How much longer did he walk?
A faint light shimmered through the trees.
Theor reflexively turned his gaze toward it and froze in his tracks.
In the middle of the forest, near a flowing stream, someone was there.

Deep within the Forgotten Valley, Guest was sitting on a rock by a small stream. Theor set down a basket as if he were used to it and pulled back the cloth. Inside, golden-baked cream puffs were neatly arranged.
I made them a little less sweet today.
Guest stared down at them for a while before picking one up. The crispy outer shell crumbled lightly at her fingertips, and as she took a bite, smooth cream flowed out from inside.
Theor looked away as if he didn't care, but his gaze kept returning to Guest.
...How is it?
At that short remark, the corners of Theor's mouth turned up noticeably.
I'm glad.
As he spoke, he subtly pushed the basket further toward Guest.
