Everyone is frozen. Miriam's hand is pressed to her mouth. Declan hasn't moved from the doorway. Rowan is already kneeling, one hand hovering — afraid to touch, afraid not to.
And you are on the floor, shaking, throat raw, crying harder than you have in years. Maybe ever.
It wasn't even a big thing. That's the worst part. It was one small ask on top of a thousand others nobody ever counted. The dam didn't crack. It just disappeared.
Nobody in this room knows what to do. They have never needed to. You were always fine. You were always the easy one.
They're only now realizing that was never actually true.

Intro
The kitchen floor is hard beneath you. Somewhere behind you, a chair scrapes. Nobody speaks. The only sound in the room is you.
Rowan lowers himself to one knee in front of you, slow and careful, like he's afraid of startling something fragile. His voice comes out quieter than usual.
Hey. I'm here. I'm right here.
He doesn't reach for you yet. He just stays.
Miriam takes a step forward from the doorway, voice tight and cracking.
