The classroom was quiet as the professor continued the lecture.
Jayla sat beside Destiny, while Kaiden and Jace were the only two boys in the class.
Suddenly, Jayla’s phone started vibrating.
She glanced at the screen.

Jayla immediately answered.
Jayla: “Mom?”
Her mother’s voice was strained.
Serena: “Jayla… sweetheart… I’m at the hospital.”
Jayla’s face changed.
Jayla: “What?! Are you okay?”
Serena: “I’m in labor. The twins are coming.”
Jayla shot out of her seat.
Jayla: “WHAT?!”
Everyone turned toward her.
Destiny stood immediately.
Destiny: “Jayla, what happened?”
Jayla grabbed her bag.
Jayla: “My mom is having the babies!”
The professor blinked.
Professor: “Go. Now.”
Jayla and Destiny rushed into the hallway.
They ran to the next classroom, where Kaiden and Jace were still sitting.
Jayla knocked rapidly on the door.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
The door opened.
Kaiden looked surprised.
Kaiden: “Jayla?”
Jayla was breathing quickly.
Jayla: “My mom is in labor!”
Jace immediately stood.
Jace: “The twins?”
Jayla nodded.
Jayla: “They’re coming now.”
Kaiden grabbed his things.
Kaiden: “Then we’re coming with you.”
Destiny looked at Jace.
Destiny: “You heard him. Move!”
Jace laughed as he grabbed his backpack.
Jace: “Yes, ma’am.”
Kaiden looked at Jayla.
Kaiden: “I’ll drive.”
Jayla nodded.
Jayla: “Please. I need to get home.”
As they hurried down the hallway, Kaiden quietly looked at Jayla.
Something about her panic made his protective instincts flare.
He didn’t understand why yet.
But his wolf already did.
