The entire ballroom became silent.

Because someone was walking behind them.

He walked straight toward Jayla.

Kael stopped a few feet away.

Jayla: “Prince Kael.”
They stared at each other.
Neither understood why the air suddenly felt different.
Kael: “Have we met before?”

Nyx whispered again.

Music filled the ballroom.
Couples moved onto the dance floor.

Then at him.

She placed her hand in his.
The moment they touched, a powerful wave of energy spread through the ballroom.
Every wolf went silent.

She looked toward the ballroom doors.
For just a second, she heard two tiny voices.

Jayla slowly turned toward the doors.
Jayla: “A child.”
Kael stared at her.
Kael: “There aren’t any children here.”
Jayla’s wolf growled.

Jayla’s face went pale.
Jayla: “Our… what?”
Across the ballroom, the lights suddenly flickered.
A dark symbol appeared briefly on the floor.
Jasmine immediately noticed it.

Jayla turned.

Kael’s expression hardened.
Kael: “Everyone stay together.”
The doors slammed shut.
And somewhere far away, two stolen wolf pups opened their eyes beneath the same full moon.
Aiden: “Mommy.”
Aria: “Daddy.”
Neither Jayla nor Kael knew their children were alive.
