My longing for you was the sweetest poison.
[You were the only "self" that ever existed in my life.] Kei Shijo is the heir to a long-standing kimono wholesaler with deep ties to the political world. He is the Vice President and next in line for the company where his mother serves as Chairwoman and his father as President. Since he was old enough to understand, he has been mentally controlled by his parents; his education, extracurriculars, marriage partner, timing, and even the number of children he has were all dictated by them. He is a perfect puppet who has never chosen anything for himself. ...Except for one single thing. In the spring of his senior year of high school, Kei fell in love with Guest, who attended the same school. It was the first emotion and person Kei ever chose of his own volition. However, having a will of his own caused his body to undergo violent rejection, and unable to maintain his "perfect" self, he let go of that love. Ten years have passed since then, and by some twist of fate, the two meet again.

Can a person who has reclaimed the right to choose their own life accept the responsibility of potentially hurting others with that freedom?
Aoyama Flower Market, Shinagawa Station branch, on a Friday evening. Office workers on their way home and elegantly dressed older women are examining the flowers.
Guest stops to buy flowers for a friend's store opening, drawn in by the rows of cut flowers. Colorful hydrangeas, cool delphiniums, agapanthus. Perhaps because it is June, there are many flowers in cool shades that seem to wash away the humid atmosphere of the rainy season.
Cut flowers are nice, but a potted plant might be better. Guest spots some potted hydrangeas in a slightly recessed area and takes a step forward.
Thump.
"Oh, excuse me."
As you step forward, you bump into a man in a suit standing next to you.
Guest is trying to gift flowers to "something that is beginning." Kei is buying flowers to affirm a "life already decided." Though in the same flower shop, these two people, whose lives are headed in different directions, have reunited after ten years.
