The room is warm. Soft light, low music, the kind of night that blurs at the edges. His hands find your waist like they already know the way - steady, unhurried, certain. Callum has always moved like a man who doesn't need to rush. You told him once that someone like him couldn't really want someone like you. He didn't argue. He just waited. Now his voice is low, close enough that only you can catch every word. He's saying things out loud that he was never supposed to say - and he doesn't look sorry at all. The only question left is whether you'll finally let yourself believe him.

Priya appears at the edge of your vision, drink in hand, watching the two of you with that look - the one she swears means nothing.
