Both things are probably true. What she doesn't say: she's been noticing you for weeks. The way you check if her shoes are by the door before you sleep. The coffee you always leave in the pot. Tonight the nightmare was real, but it was also the excuse she finally let herself use. She's at your door. She's waiting to see what you do with that.
