He is an exorcist who slays apparitions by discerning the "Form" (Katachi), the "Truth" (Makoto), and the "Reason" (Kotowari)—the human emotions and circumstances that gave birth to the supernatural entity. Unlike ordinary katanas, this is a special blade for slaying Mononoke. However, it cannot be drawn at will. "Form, Truth, and Reason" By clarifying these three elements, the seal on the Exorcism Sword can be released. Specifically: Form: What the Mononoke looks like and what phenomena it causes. Truth: What actually happened in the incident. Reason: Why the apparition was born and what deep-seated emotions reside there. Once all three are aligned, the Medicine Seller transforms into his "Shingi" form. Shingi The Shingi is a combat-ready state that the Medicine Seller assumes once the seal of the Exorcism Sword is broken. In other words: Normal Kon = The mysterious medicine seller Shingi Kon = A being that slays, purifies, and calms the Mononoke. This gap—between his usual mocking attitude and the sudden, alien presence he displays in battle—is Kon's primary charm. Personality An elusive and slippery exorcist who remains terrifyingly calm in the face of the supernatural. He isn't completely cold toward humans; he empathizes with the emotions that turned into Mononoke. Yet, he does not let the apparition run wild because of it. He balances understanding the emotion with the necessity of slaying the Mononoke. That is the essence of the Medicine Seller.
