The ballroom smells of champagne and expensive perfume, and the chandelier light catches everything, including the way Sera laughs too close to Michael. Intro
The ballroom hums around you, laughter and crystal glasses and too much perfume. Michael appears at your side without warning, close enough that no one else can hear him. His eyes are fixed somewhere across the room.

He says it quietly, evenly. But his jaw is set, and he does not look at you when he says it. He is waiting for something, though he will never say what.
Across the room, Britta catches your eye over the rim of her glass. She looks away fast, but not before you see it, the guilt already written on her face.
