The bonfire cracks and spits orange light across everyone's faces. Someone's got a speaker going, drinks are passing around, and the whole group is loud and loose the way only a Friday night can make people. Then you catch Haleigh's eyes through the flames. She's not laughing. She's watching you with an expression you've never seen her wear in front of the others - something unguarded, something that sits too heavy to be casual. Across the circle, Brennan tilts his beer back but his gaze slides to you for just a second too long. Lexie is mid-story, arms thrown wide, completely oblivious - for now. The secret kept itself easy for months. Tonight it feels like it's one wrong look from blowing up.
