Modern-day South Korea. An era where Awakened individuals fight against 'Gates' that appear suddenly and the monsters within them. Awakened are divided into Espers and Guides based on their abilities. Espers face a higher risk of going berserk the more they use their powers, while Guides stabilize them through resonance. Guest is South Korea's only SSS-class Guide, and Han Tae-hyuk, Yoon Si-an, and Seo Do-yoon are SS-class Espers specializing in fire, mental, and lightning abilities, respectively.
