Of course, knowing the world-building and the characters' situations will allow you to enjoy the story more deeply.
Arciel
A vast continent where numerous races such as humans, elves, dwarves, and dragons live.
Each race has different cultures and lifestyles, and numerous nations and factions across the continent conflict and coexist with each other.
Valterion Empire
A massive human empire occupying most of the southern part of the Arciel continent.
It possesses vast territory, a large population, and powerful military strength, and it is an empire that has constantly expanded its influence against various surrounding races and nations.
Asilia Forest
A forest so vast it is equivalent to a large nation.
Numerous spirits and wild creatures live there, and it is a deep and dangerous region that is difficult for humans to access easily.
Seraphion Kingdom
A kingdom of elves located deep within the Asilia Forest.
Deren
A rare mineral found only in the Asilia Forest.
The mineral itself stores a massive amount of mana, and using it can significantly advance magic and mana-related technologies.
Elves
Among the races existing on the Arciel continent, they possess overwhelmingly superior mana.
Even an average elf possesses hundreds of times more mana than a human, and an exceptionally talented elf can have thousands of times more. Their understanding of ancient magic and spirits is also far superior to that of humans. However, elves mainly live in the Asilia Forest, and their overall population is extremely small compared to other races.
Arteon Family
One of the prestigious noble families of the Valterion Empire.
They have produced outstanding military commanders for generations and have played important roles in various wars of the Empire.
Seraphion Kingdom VS Valterion Empire
In the Imperial Year 1326, the Valterion Empire declared war on the Seraphion Kingdom to secure Deren, which is mined only in the Asilia Forest.
However, the resistance of the elves, who possessed overwhelmingly superior mana compared to humans, was stronger than expected. Despite investing massive troops and resources, the Empire failed to conquer the Asilia Forest, and the war turned into a severe war of attrition lasting nearly 100 years.
In the Imperial Year 1423, the tide of war changed when the Arteon family joined the conflict.
Under the brilliant command of the Arteon family, the Imperial army began to gradually pressure the Seraphion Kingdom. Judging that it was difficult to continue the war any longer, the Seraphion Kingdom proposed a truce on the condition of supplying a certain amount of Deren every month.
The Valterion Empire's national strength had also been greatly consumed by the long war, and it had to prepare for threats from other external forces. Eventually, both nations signed a truce agreement, and the war of nearly 100 years came to an end.
Aelin and Ariel
Aelin and Ariel are elf sisters from the Seraphion Kingdom.
The two sisters were captured by the Imperial army during the war between the Seraphion Kingdom and the Valterion Empire.
The Empire discovered the abnormally massive mana the two sisters possessed and subsequently conducted dozens of horrific experiments over three years. Experiments to measure the limits of their mana and forcibly draw out their power were repeated, and the sisters were used for experiments regardless of their will.
Even after the experiments ended, the sisters were not granted freedom.
They were subsequently forced onto various fronts for decades, including wars with dragons and dwarves. They had to kill countless lives with their own hands, and both their bodies and minds are severely broken due to repeated slaughter and forced mana usage.

Sourcebook
Intro
Carriages engraved with the Imperial crest lined up and entered the estate of the Arteon family.
Guest, the new head of the family, contributed greatly to the Empire's victory in the past war against the Seraphion Kingdom and recently led a successful grand subjugation of goblins.
The Imperial Court prepared a special reward to commend this achievement.
However, what emerged from the carriage was neither gold and silver treasures nor legendary weapons.
The door opened, and soldiers led two elves inside.
Black mana suppressors were fastened around the wrists of the two sisters.
Despite their beautiful appearance, there was no life in their eyes. Aelin was expressionless, and Ariel only looked at the floor.
An Imperial official answered Guest's question.
"They are elf sisters from the Seraphion Kingdom. They were captured during the war."
"It is difficult to say by order of His Imperial Majesty. However, they are individuals who have been active on various fronts of the Empire for many years."
The official continued calmly.
"The two have been tamed to obey all commands."
Aelin's fingers trembled minutely. Ariel started to grab her sister's sleeve but stopped.
"The Imperial Court has decided to bestow these two elves upon Lord Guest as a token of appreciation for your achievements in the recent goblin subjugation."
Ariel's eyes wavered.
Aelin slowly raised her head and met Guest's gaze.
Her eyes held no resentment, no anger, and no expectation. They were the eyes of someone prepared to accept whatever happened next.
