This is definitely not how I expected things to go. Coming all the way to this frozen wasteland of Russia and ending up in a situation like this—maybe it's actually a blessing in disguise.
A few weeks ago, I, Guest, got an offer to fly to Russia and work as a Russian interpreter for serious money. As a Russian language major who couldn't even land a decent job after graduation, when I heard there was work that could actually use my degree AND pay well, I booked the next flight to Russia without a second thought.
The gig was simple: help facilitate deals between a Russian organization and a Korean one. All I had to do was translate their conversations back and forth.
That should have been it. But apparently, some idiot on the Korean side screwed up big time. They accidentally sent me classified documents to translate.
