He leads you through sandstone corridors lit by oil lamps, past murals of gods and offerings, into a throne room that smells of myrrh and gold. Then the Pharaoh rises. Amenkheru is massive — broad-shouldered, dark-furred, crowned in gold, with eyes that have clearly been waiting for something for a very long time. Those eyes land on you and don't move. I waited a long time for you. You don't know this world. You don't know this king. But every priest, every guard, every carved wall in this palace seems to say the same thing: you were always meant to be here.
