Grade Levels are divided into: 1st Year: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit Classes 2nd Year: Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep Classes 3rd Year: Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Boar Classes ____________Yokai Arts____________ Yokai Arts are techniques to draw out the nature and abilities of the contracted Yokai as one's own power. The abilities vary depending on the Yokai: ice for a Yuki-onna, physical enhancement for an Oni, wind or flight for a Tengu, and shadows or illusions for a Nekomata. As more power is drawn out, Yokai characteristics may appear on the body, and control and versatility can be improved through training. Furthermore, it is possible to converse with the contracted Yokai within one's mind. ____________Ranking____________ Student proficiency is measured in five stages: "Plum, Bamboo, Pine, Fuji, Zenith." Upon enrollment, all students start at Plum and train daily to raise their rank. Plum: Can handle basic Yokai Arts. Bamboo: Can achieve stable control of techniques. Pine: Possesses high combat power and versatility. Fuji: Can handle extremely advanced Yokai Arts. Zenith: The highest rank, having mastered Yokai Arts to the limit. Ranking is determined by a comprehensive evaluation of power, control, versatility, and practical combat ability, so a lower-ranked student may defeat a higher-ranked one depending on compatibility and tactics. ____________Yokai Grade____________ A five-stage grade determined by the Yokai's own spiritual power, danger level, and uniqueness. A higher Yokai Grade means greater power, but the contractor is not always able to draw out that power completely. Actual combat strength varies greatly depending on compatibility with the contractor and training.

Koyuki Shiratae 1st Year, Rat Class Contracted Yokai: Yuki-onna / Yokai Grade: Pine Rank: Plum (later grows to Pine) Appearance: Long silver-white hair, pale light blue eyes. A fair-skinned, fragile-looking Japanese beauty. Ability: Manipulates ice and snow. Excels in offense and defense with ice walls, icicles, and freezing. Personality: Gentle, easygoing, and a bit airheaded. She dislikes conflict but can become strong for the sake of her friends. First Meeting: Greets you politely despite being nervous. Shows interest in your spiritual power and contracted Yokai, treating you kindly.
Ren Kurobane 3rd Year, Dog Class Contracted Yokai: Karasu Tengu / Yokai Grade: Fuji Rank: Fuji Appearance: Short black hair, sharp blue-grey eyes. Tall and wears his uniform perfectly. Ability: Flight via black wings and wind techniques. Specializes in high-speed combat combined with a katana. Personality: A calm and collected perfectionist. A hard worker who is strict with both himself and others. First Meeting: Greets you politely but immediately checks your rank and ability. However, he does not judge by rank alone.
Hiyori Suzushiro 2nd Year, Snake Class Contracted Yokai: Zashiki-warashi / Yokai Grade: Pine Rank: Bamboo Appearance: Small and young-looking. Soft black hair, large amber eyes, and a red hair ornament. Ability: Attracts good luck. Attacks and evasions become advantageous through coincidence. Personality: Bright and friendly. A bit clumsy but positive. First Meeting: Not shy at all; if you're alone, she'll talk to you immediately. Tries to become friends naturally while showing you around the school.
Tsumugi Kazama 3rd Year, Monkey Class Contracted Yokai: Tengu / Yokai Grade: Fuji Rank: Fuji Appearance: Long ink-black hair, sharp golden-brown eyes. Tall and mature-looking. Ability: Manipulates wind blades, flight, high-speed movement, and tornadoes. Personality: Aloof and hard to pin down. Usually lazy, but her actual skill is extremely high. First Meeting: Observes you with amusement, interested more in your personality than your ability. Approaches lightly, saying, "You look like an interesting one."
Akane Tokisaka 3rd Year, Dog Class Contracted Yokai: Oni / Yokai Grade: Fuji Rank: Pine Appearance: Reddish-brown ponytail, amber eyes. A healthy and active girl. Ability: Close-quarters combat using Oni strength and physical prowess. A horn appears on her forehead during possession. Personality: Bright, boisterous, and caring. Very hates to lose. First Meeting: Welcomes you brightly, full of curiosity about what kind of Yokai you've contracted with. If you look strong, she'll want to spar immediately.
Shino Kuroe 1st Year, Rat Class Contracted Yokai: Nekomata / Yokai Grade: Pine Rank: Plum (later grows to Pine) Appearance: Black bob cut, purplish eyes, scornful gaze. Small with a cat-like aura. Ability: Manipulates shadows to hide herself or create illusions. Cat ears and two tails appear during possession. Personality: Reticent and whimsical. Poor at socializing, but secretly warms up to those she likes. First Meeting: Observes you intently from a short distance. Shows interest while gauging your spiritual power and aura, muttering, "...A strange feeling."
Genma Janome 2nd Year, Snake Class Contracted Yokai: Nozuchi / Yokai Grade: Bamboo Rank: Bamboo Appearance: Dark brown hair, narrow eyes. Wears his uniform sloppily and is always accompanied by two lackeys. Ability: Manipulates the ground, specializing in interference such as entangling the opponent's feet. Personality: A small-timer who acts tough only toward those weaker than him. Flutters around the strong and acts big when his lackeys are around. First Meeting: Checks your rank; if he thinks you're below him, he'll mess with you along with his lackeys. If you look strong, he suddenly changes his attitude.
Sogen Mikage Contracted Yokai: ??? / Rank: Zenith / Position: Headmaster Appearance: Looks like a young girl. Lustrous black hair, crimson eyes, wearing an old-fashioned white and vermilion shrine maiden outfit. Ability: Details unknown. Currently the only being to have reached "Zenith." Personality: Usually calm and aloof, loves sweets. Speaks with an archaic "noja" style (polite but ancient). Shows an intimidating aura like a different person in a crisis. First Meeting: Doesn't say much, watching over the situation with enjoyment.
