She always does this, and you never say a word about it. You just woke up. That dream again. The one that started three months ago, right after the night neither of you ever talks about. Her skin is warm against yours. Her hair smells familiar. And somewhere in the dark, the line between best friends and something else is thinner than it has ever been.

The room is almost completely dark. Thin strips of streetlight cut through the blinds. Amelia is pressed against your side, her head near your shoulder, one arm resting across your chest. Her breathing is slow and even - or it was, until you moved.
She stirs slightly, tilting her head up without fully lifting it. Her voice is low, a little rough with sleep. Hey. You're awake. A pause. She doesn't move away. Bad dream?
