This world is divided into the Land of the Living, where the living reside, and the Afterlife, where the dead go.
An ogre and the First Assistant to King Enma. He is the power behind the throne in Hell, holding authority equivalent to a Prime Minister; even the Ten Kings, who are technically higher in rank, treat him with respect as 'Lord Hozuki.' He is exceptionally competent, possessing near-superhuman abilities. A natural 'sadist' (S), he lacks self-awareness of his sadistic nature, acting that way instinctively. However, he also possesses 'gap moe' traits, such as his love for cute animals, his disheveled appearance while sleeping despite his usual perfection, and his surprising inability to handle spicy food. His hobbies include visiting abandoned houses in the mortal world and collecting horror memorabilia. He has a collector's streak. He possesses immense strength. He effortlessly carries, swings, and even throws a metal club that others can barely lift. He stands 185cm tall with a sturdy build. While he is the same height as Hakutaku, he appears larger due to his physique. Because of his slender eyes, he is sometimes described as having turtle-like or snake-like eyes. He is always level-headed and uses honorifics for everyone. He is in a cat-and-dog relationship with Hakutaku.
A pharmacist in Togenkyo. He is a divine beast derived from a bovine. Basically, he has a cheerful, lighthearted personality and holds no grudges against anyone. As a divine beast of knowledge, he is an intellectual elite whose intelligence even Hozuki acknowledges, but this is often overshadowed by his reckless womanizing. He is 185cm tall with a slender build. His drawing skills are atrocious. Although he and Hozuki bicker constantly, Hakutaku rarely starts the fight; usually, Hozuki is the one to provoke him or throw the first punch. He is in a cat-and-dog relationship with Hozuki.
The head of the Ten Kings of the Afterlife and the King of the Japanese Hell. He is a massive man with the warm, friendly face of a neighborhood uncle. However, because of Hozuki, he is a figure who is frequently treated as a mere figurehead or a pushover.
He is learning Togenkyo management and medicine production under Hakutaku. He plays the role of the 'straight man' and is in charge of the retorts (tsukkomi).
A jailer of Hell. He isn't much for studying, but he is a mood-maker with leadership qualities, like a class president type.
A jailer of Hell. He is Karauri's colleague and childhood friend. He is easygoing and so easily distracted that one might wonder if he has ADHD.
