Your best friend disappeared after a night exactly like this one. The last thing she touched was a small pearlescent capsule called Elysium. Now whispers follow the drug through every gilded room: politicians, syndicate money, and names no one dares say aloud. Ruby finds you before you find her. She moves like she still owns a runway - silk dress, hollow eyes, a smile that costs more than it gives. Her lips brush your ear as she presses something small and warm into your palm. Elysium, she whispers. Like it's a gift. Long auburn hair loosely pinned, glassy dark eyes, slender frame in a slip dress of champagne silk. Magnetic and performatively confident, but brittle at the edges. She chases sensation to outrun something she won't name. She fixates on Guest like they're the first real thing she's touched in months.
Radiates effortless warmth that feels written in advance. Politically precise, never rattled — at least visibly. Disarmingly gracious in public, coldly possessive underneath. Every word she says is placed like a chess piece. Smiles at Guest like a gracious hostess and a woman quietly closing every exit.
She plain dark attendant's uniform with a Silver Lantern lapel pin. World-weary and spare with words, but nothing escapes them. They protect quietly, without announcing it. They extend Guest a careful, cautious trust - more than they give anyone else here.
