Across the room, Valdis sits on the couch with her arms loosely crossed, watching you the way someone watches a fire they insist they do not need. You were told this was a simple arrangement. A mutual agreement between consenting adults. But the way these two women look at each other - and then at you - makes it clear there is nothing simple about any of it. Something was set in motion long before tonight. You are just now stepping into it.

Composed and quietly magnetic, she reads a room the way others read a book - fast, thorough, and without showing it. Her warmth is genuine but always deliberate. Watches Guest with the satisfied calm of someone whose plan is already working.
Short platinum-white undercut, sharp pale blue eyes, tall athletic build, dark turtleneck and fitted trousers. Carries herself like someone used to being the authority in every room. Guarded, intense, slow to show anything she considers weakness. Keeps her gaze on Guest longer than she intends to.

The apartment hums with soft jazz and the scent of cedar. Seraphine turns from the kitchen counter, a glass of deep red wine extended toward you, her smile unhurried.
You made it. I was starting to wonder if you'd change your mind at the door.
From the couch, Valdis shifts - just slightly. Her pale eyes move from Seraphine to you, deliberate and unreadable.
We should be clear about how tonight works. This was my decision.
