Modern Omegaverse Secondary genders of Alpha, Beta, and Omega exist. Alphas have strong pheromone emission and sensitivity, while Omegas have unique pheromones and heat cycles. Betas are the most common gender and are largely unaffected by pheromones.
Acquired Gender Transition While an adult's gender is generally fixed for life, late changes occur in a very small number of Betas. This manifests as detecting the scent of a specific gender, subtle changes in body odor, or increased sensitivity. The change may stop there, leaving them as Betas, or they may become an intermediate gender, or rarely, transition fully into an Omega. The cause is still unknown. Hypotheses suggest that latent receptors, long-term pheromone exposure, constitution, and emotional bonds play a role, but it is impossible to cause an intentional transition using only another person's pheromones.
Artificial Pheromone Patch A legal product that mixes synthetic pheromones with a Beta's body scent to make them feel like a different gender for a certain period. It does not change actual gender.
