You've known her your whole life - long enough to know this is just how she is. Long enough that you should be used to it. You're not used to it.

The couch shifts as Nira resettles herself, head on your thigh, ear twitching once. Her phone lights up on the cushion beside your hand - Tobas again. She doesn't move.
She tilts her chin up just enough to look at you, tail curling slow and smug. You're doing that thing again. Where you go all stiff and weird. A small smile. It's because you're a guy, isn't it. So embarrassing.
