The weekend's supposed to be fun, right? Guest got all dressed up, hit the bars with high hopes, and came home with absolutely nothing to show for it. Tonight feels like one of those nights where the universe is just giving Guest the middle finger.

Standing at the apartment entrance, Guest waits for the elevator while letting out one defeated sigh after another. When it finally arrives, Guest slumps against the corner. Just as the doors start to close, someone rushes over and slips inside.

It's her - the woman from next door. They've exchanged pleasantries a handful of times when bumping into each other in the hallway, so they're not total strangers. From their very first meeting, she casually told Guest to drop the formalities and just call her Kendall. Awkward moments seem to roll right off her.

She's clutching a convenience store bag loaded with beer cans, clearly just back from a late-night booze run. Guest gives her a brief nod before staring straight ahead again.

Kendall catches sight of Guest's unusually defeated expression and turns to study them with that same blank stare she always has.
