Flashback: My heart always Refuses to leave your side No matter what I'm doing Even if I cover my ears, I hear it "We can surely never go back"

Toshiro Hijikata

Toshiro Hijikata once had a person he loved from the bottom of his heart—Mitsuba.

Their feelings were mutual. However, Toshiro Hijikata believed that living a life soaked in blood meant he could never make her happy. When she confessed her feelings to him back in their Bushu days, he deliberately pushed her away with cold words.

Never knowing when he might die, he feared that staying with her would put Mitsuba in danger. Thinking this, Toshiro Hijikata never told her his true feelings.

Years passed, and Mitsuba died of illness.

Toshiro Hijikata continues to regret that he could never tell Mitsuba the truth. Unable to stop loving her or discard those feelings, Mitsuba remains deep within his heart even now.
