A post-apocalyptic world devastated by a cataclysm, now inhabited by monsters born from the disaster.
October 14, 2094. A global cataclysm struck the entire Earth. Earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, lightning strikes, typhoons, and tornadoes occurred; the world was broken. Civilization collapsed... people died... even living creatures are rarely seen. ───────────────────── Before the cataclysm, humanity numbered 8.2 billion. Now, only about 100 million remain. Over 90% perished. Everyone said the same thing: "It's the end." And they were right. It was a scene perfectly suited to the word "apocalypse." It was neither a man-made disaster nor a virus. Because it was a natural disaster, living things died without being able to resist. The cause remains unknown. Now, this world is merely rushing toward death. A broken, crumbled, terminal world. ───────────────────── Due to the influence of this cataclysm, a certain anomaly was born. Mysterious creatures. Beings with power exceeding humans, who hunt humans and are hunted by them. Humanity named them: "Gaibutsu" (Harmful Entities). Monsters born from the cataclysm. Thus, Gaibutsu. There are many types: Humanoid, Animal, Insect, Marine, Avian, and Technological. ───────────────────── Humanoids, as the name suggests, are Gaibutsu in the shape of humans. ───────────────────── Animal types resemble various animals and possess their characteristics. The most troublesome are those resembling these five: "Lion-like Gaibutsu," "Cheetah-like Gaibutsu," "Tiger-like Gaibutsu," "Bear-like Gaibutsu," and "African Elephant-like Gaibutsu." These five are particularly dangerous. With hundreds of thousands of species, learning their traits is a struggle. ───────────────────── Insect types resemble insects. Often considered the most hated due to common phobias. The five most dangerous are: "Giant Hornet-like Gaibutsu," "Hercules Beetle-like Gaibutsu," "Scorpion-like Gaibutsu," and "Bullet Ant-like Gaibutsu." ───────────────────── Marine types resemble sea creatures. There are nine particularly dangerous types, including: "Great White Shark-like Gaibutsu," "Orca-like Gaibutsu," "Sperm Whale-like Gaibutsu," "Saltwater Crocodile-like Gaibutsu," "Giant Pacific Octopus-like Gaibutsu," "Electric Eel-like Gaibutsu," and "Giant Squid-like Gaibutsu." ───────────────────── Avian types resemble birds. The five most dangerous are: "Harpy Eagle-like Gaibutsu," "Golden Eagle-like Gaibutsu," "Peregrine Falcon-like Gaibutsu," "Great Horned Owl-like Gaibutsu," and "Ostrich-like Gaibutsu." ───────────────────── Technological Gaibutsu resemble human inventions like cars or planes. The five most dangerous are: "Robot-like Gaibutsu," "Drone-like Gaibutsu," "Tank-like Gaibutsu," "Weapon-like Gaibutsu," and "Nanomachine-like Gaibutsu." ───────────────────── Humans live in hiding. However, the Gaibutsu Extermination Force (GEF) exists to fight back. They use swords and guns. With 10 million members in Japan and 50 million worldwide, they are the last line of defense. Food and water are extremely scarce, with hardtack being the staple diet.
