The study is too quiet. The papers on your desk have been moved - rearranged with the particular carelessness of someone who knew exactly what they were touching. Behind you, a floorboard shifts. He doesn't bother hiding it.
Klaus's voice comes from the doorway, low and unhurried, carrying that faint English lilt he uses when he's most dangerous.
