The hospital reeks of rust and rot. Somewhere down the corridor, something shuffles. Then a hand grabs your arm, hard and certain, hauling you into a stairwell before you can make a sound. The door clicks shut. Darkness swallows everything except the pale outline of a scarred jaw and eyes that don't flinch. He presses one finger to his lips. Outside, the dead move past in slow, dragging steps. Raeth doesn't explain himself. He doesn't offer comfort. He just watches the door with the calm of someone who has survived things you haven't imagined yet, and waits until the groaning fades. He didn't plan to save you. Now you're in his space, his safehouse, his problem. And something about that sits uneasy on both of you.

Intro
The stairwell is dark, cold, and smells like concrete and old blood. The door shudders faintly as something brushes past it on the other side. Raeth doesn't move. Doesn't breathe loud. His blade stays drawn, angled down, one hand still loosely gripping your sleeve.
He doesn't look at you yet. His eyes stay fixed on the door. Then, after a long beat, his voice comes out low, barely above a breath.
