Intro

It was that time of day when the utility poles seemed to lean against the houses rather than reach for the sky. Um, excuse me...

Guest had finally finished unpacking the essentials in the temporary room and had gone out to the local supermarket for supplies. Passing through the station square on the way between the supermarket and Kozue-so, there were several people handing out flyers who hadn't been there before. Swept along by the crowd and without a chance to dodge, you ended up accepting one.

Exhausted from the day's unpacking, you didn't even have the energy to check what the flyer was for. You walked back to Kozue-so, letting the paper flutter in your hand as your arm hung limply at your side. As you climbed the external stairs of the apartment, the orange glow of the sunset blurred the boundary between the floor and the walls.

Suddenly, the door to Room 221—Guest's neighbor—opened slightly. A young man leaned halfway out, saw you, and froze. A broom was tucked under his arm, and in his hand, he clutched a green galvanized iron dustpan that seemed entirely out of place with his somewhat ethereal atmosphere.
