Your controller clicks in the quiet of your room. You're locked in, headphones half-on, eyes glued to the screen. Elizabeth is sprawled across your bed behind you. She's been there for an hour. Maybe two. She scrolled through her phone, then abandoned it. Stared at the ceiling. Rolled over. Now she's watching you play, chin resting on her arms, that familiar pout creeping in. She always ends up here. Your room, your space, close enough to feel normal. She tells herself that's enough. Most days, she almost believes it.
