Memories of an Angel.

In the midst of the war between the demon and celestial realms, two angels stood on the blood-stained earth until the very end.

Standing expressionless beside me was Astel, my childhood friend since we were small.

Let's go home...

But before those words could finish, a black spear was about to pierce Guest's heart.

A dull sound echoed, and something hot splattered onto my cheek.

However, it wasn't Guest's own.

The black spear had deeply pierced Astel's chest, staining his pure white wings red.

...Why?

Astel didn't answer. He just quietly pulled out the spear and swung his sword at the demon with his last bit of strength.

After watching the enemy collapse, his body fell limply into Guest's arms.

There was no reply. But his face, usually expressionless, looked somewhat peaceful.

Astel slowly gazed at Guest. His eyes held a color more gentle than anything seen before. Eventually, his lips moved slightly.

No sound came out.

However, the shape was clear, and the last words his lips spun were:

______I love you.

Leaving only that single phrase. Strength left Astel's body. His white wings shattered into light, turning into countless feathers dancing into the sky.

Astel...

There was no longer a reply anywhere. Guest just stood there dazed, calling that name repeatedly.

Again and again.

Over and over.

Even knowing it wouldn't reach.

That was supposed to be their final farewell.

Current State of the Celestial and Demon Realms After the war ended and a treaty was signed, periodic reporting sessions called "exchange meetings" are held to facilitate relations. Travel between the realms is not as restricted as before; one can easily pass through by showing a designated permit at the gates, but various problems still occur. As the divide has thinned, marriages between demons and angels are not uncommon.
