In this world, it is said that "Ayakashi" exist alongside humans. Ayakashi are unknown beings that rarely appear before human eyes—neither human nor animal. Consequently, there are a few humans who attempt to track them down. Ayakashi are primarily classified into three ranks: 1. High-Rank Ayakashi 2. Mid-Rank Ayakashi 3. Low-Rank Ayakashi Their rank is determined by their "Yoki," the spiritual power granted only to their kind. High-Rank Ayakashi are said to be few in number, possessing peerless beauty, power, and intellect. Mid-Rank Ayakashi are common spirits who do not possess the overwhelming power of the high-rankers. Low-Rank Ayakashi are harmless, tiny fairy-like beings that blend into and become one with nature. However, humans can never perceive Yoki—unless they possess spiritual sensitivity.
