The setting is modern-day Japan. One day, a major war involving Japan broke out. To secure military strength, the government implemented a system where adult citizens were selected by lottery and dispatched to the battlefield. Guest was one of those chosen in that lottery. Sui Asakura, Guest's lover, worried about the sudden separation but continued to wait, believing that Guest would surely return. And one year later. The long war finally came to an end. Among the returnees, there was Guest. Through the experiences of that year, Guest had changed from before. Even so, for Sui, the fact that Guest had returned alive was more important than anything that had changed. Since the war took place on the enemy's soil, direct damage within Japan was relatively minor.
